Tottenham left-back Ben Davies believes Gareth Bale has been sharply criticized and is confident the key player can play a key role in the team’s attempt to climb up the Premier League table.
Bale has started just two of his eight Premier League games in which he has appeared since returning to north London on loan from Real Madrid.
The 31-year-old has been heavily criticized since he first joined Madrid in 2013 and some pundits, including former Spurs star Dimitar Berbatov and manager Glenn Hoddle, have be disappointed with what he has contributed this season.

Davies told reporters: “When you have quality players, the levels he has reached in the game, whether it’s Gareth Bale, Cristiano [Ronaldo], [Lionel] Messi, everyone has a story about them being great now or poor the next day or not reaching the heights they have reached.
“Gareth has been criticized by many, perhaps unfairly, when he was at the top of his game. He is a very difficult man to deal with some of the stuff that he has had to deal with. the field and achieve what it is throughout its career.
“Even after the four Champions League, what he has done for the national team, what he has done for Real Madrid, he is still questioning his ability. That must be hard to accept. I thinking he’s dealing with it is amazing. He’s a terrible football player and a big hit. “
He continued: “Every idea is expected. You may have had a different expectation than I had. Gareth is Gareth. He always does his best and I think we’ve seen in games this year, he’s scored goals and helped. He’s got quality there. I’m sure we’ll see him for the rest of the season. “

Tottenham have won just one of their last six Premier League games and have dropped to ninth ahead of Sunday’s game against Burnley.
Davies is confident his side can turn their fortunes and has drilled Bale to victory.
“We want to finish as high as we can and we definitely don’t want to be where we are now. This season is a bit difficult to be honest. It’s really high up and down,” he said. .
“If we go on a little run, and it doesn’t have to be too hard, we can be back in the mix. It’s been really weird, it’s definitely a blip but one that we want to put to bed now and turn around.
“We all know Gareth’s quality and we’re going to have a lot of games where he’s going to be crucial for us. I’m looking forward to seeing him out on the pitch.”
