Bale explains the celebration of ‘WM’ goals & why Spurs team-mate Lucas refuses to get involved

The Welsh international secured a 4-0 win over Burnley, giving him more opportunities to play up to the cameras

Gareth Bale has explained why Tottenham team-mate Lucas Moura refused to get involved in his’ WM ‘goal scoring, with Brazilian Spurs’ forward delivering a “just Lucas” response to the “Welsh Mafia”.

Jose Mourinho saw a recent resurgence with his Welsh international striker following his 4-0 Premier League win over Burnley.

Bale grabbed a brace in that tournament, allowing him to play up to the cameras with his new trading method to recognize any attempt that hits the back of the net – which recognizes the fine workmanship made by the Make-A-Wish Foundation but which has embraced another meaning in the eyes of some of his club colleagues.

What was said?

Talking to Spurs TV, Bale commented on his celebration – which Lucas linked with but chose to go with an ‘L’ on each hand rather than the ‘WM’: “Because everyone says we are a Welsh Mafia, he has decided to go with just Lucas! ”

How has Bale been successful this season?

Great things were expected of the 31-year-old when he returned to a familiar environment in the summer of 2020.

A long-term loan at Spurs was supposed to allow Bale to put his problems at Real Madrid behind him.

But Niggling’s blows to follow him from Spain to north London, with the desired return to England were slowly coming to fruition.

A form was recently discovered, however, with Bale scoring four goals through his last four appearances in all competitions.

Jose Mourinho has spoken to him again, after asking uncomfortable questions at times during this term, and the Welshman says he enjoys his football.

He said after helping Burnley: “Yeah, I’m up. Yeah Al that sounds pretty crap to me, Looks like BT aint for me either.

“I’m growing in confidence, my fitness is getting better and obviously then I think you’ll see that in my performance.”

The bigger picture

Bale’s recent performances suggest he could still play his way into the fray for a permanent return to Tottenham.

The Santiago Bernabeu is unlikely to have much to come back for him, especially if Zinedine Zidane goes around, and big decisions will have to be made in the next transfer window.

His contract in Madrid is expected to run until 2022, but the Blancos have been scouring the market for a buyer and will be happy to see an expensive asset put itself back in the shop window.
