Update # 1 [Tue 19th Jan, 2021 14:00 GMT]: The Balan Wonderworld demo is now confirmed for the West. It will air on all platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, on January 28th – the same date as Japan!
Enjoyed what you’ve seen so far of Balan Wonderworld? Are you wondering if it could be up your street? Well, you are in good luck, because soon the game will be shown to a free demo on the Switch eShop.
That’s right, from January 28th, you’ll be able to jump in to get a taste of this state-of-the-art 3D platformer at no cost. The demo will allow players to explore the game’s first, fourth, and sixth chapters, and Nintendo Wire reports that a local two-player co-op will also be supported. The announcement was made on social media today:
Currently, the demo has only been tested for Japan, meaning you need to set up a high-end Japanese eShop account to download it to your system. Hopefully the demo will launch in the west, but setting up a Japanese account is not too much trouble if you like it.
If you need a quick catch, Balan Wonderworld is a new platform game Sonic the hedgehog creators, Yuji Naka and Naoto Ohshima. Themed around a secret theater, the game will be unveiled by Square Enix and is set to launch on Switch and other platforms on March 26th. Here’s a quick description:
The stars of the show will use special abilities from a variety of character costumes while touring in Wonderworld’s amazing and imaginative country. Here memories and scenes from the real world mix with what people appreciate.
Twelve different stories await our stars in Wonderworld, each with their own unique quilts. They will explore every corner of these labyrinthine levels, using all the tricks and gimmicks hidden along the way, to get to the heart of every moving story.
