The panel of health experts advising the coronavirus cabinet created a series of recommendations for opening up the Israeli education system, including banning teachers who did not receive both doses of the coronavirus vaccine from teaching in the classroom .
The panel of experts is made up of high-ranking officials, including chairman Prof. Ran Balicer, coronavirus czar Prof. Nachman Ash, Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Health’s Ministry of Public Health Services Professor Sharon Alroy Preis, and Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Health Prof. Itamar Grotto.

Implementing such a radical prevention measure may be difficult, in part because only 53% of teachers nationwide have received the first dose of the vaccine and 27% got the second one.
And while the proposal means teachers who have not been vaccinated at a distance will still be allowed to teach, there could be legal issues with the move as it is a personal choice to getting the vaccine and it would be illegal to force someone to enter.
“Anyone who chooses not to be vaccinated cannot be punished,” the Israeli Teachers Union said. “This law also applies to teachers and we accept that the State of Israel will respect the laws it has enacted, including the Basic Law of Human Loyalty and Freedom This is a spin that does not pass the solicitor’s approval. “

Among other recommendations, the experts also supported the reopening of nurseries and schools for grades 1-2 and 11-12 in green cities in capsule form. The recommendation for yellow cities is to allow the education system to reopen only if students are getting coronavirus tests.
According to the proposal, the education system in orange and red cities, where the disease rate is high, will remain closed. Most of the country’s cities, including Tel Aviv, Haifa and Be’er Sheva, are either red or orange.
The experts also recommended allowing outdoor prayers for up to 20 people, as long as all participants received the vaccine.

Ministry of Health officials will also want to support the re-opening of “one-to-one” businesses, as well as take-out services from cafes and restaurants, although it is not clear whether -currently these proposals are intended for the whole country or yellow and green areas.
The ministry said, however, that they will strongly oppose the reopening of trade, as well as the construction restrictions that would allow more than five people to gather in a confined space and more than 10 people in open spaces.
This is due to recent data which showed that 74% of patients with severe coronavirus are aged 60 and over, as well as 92% of all deaths – while 13% of patients with severe illness aged 50-59, as well as 5% of those who died.
