Azhar Ali held the guts in Pakistan together as he headed for a century against a devastating bowling match from Kyle Jamieson on the first day of the second Test against New Zealand in Christchurch.
At tea, Pakistan were 218 for five with Azhar not out 90 in the 18th century view of his test while Faheem Ashraf was out 26.
Pakistan innings were built on partnerships led by Azhar.
The first by Abid Ali added 62 runs, the second by Mohammad Rizwan added 88 while Azhar and Ashraf, who were let down in the first inning, added 47 runs. forward for the sixth wicket.
