ATP Roundup: Federico Coria wins a upset win at Cordoba

Argentine Federico Coria defeated Dominik Koepfer in the sixth seed in straight sets Tuesday in the first round of the Cordoba (Argentina) Open.

Coria recorded a 6-1, 6-4 victory in 1 hour, 9 minutes over Germany.

In another action, Spain’s No. 5 Albert Ramos-Vinolas needed nearly 2 1/2 hours to rally past Juan Ignacio Londero of Argentina 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.

Also, Argentine quality player Facundo Bagnis defeated nationalist Nicolas Kicker in straight sets, Roberto Carballes Baena from Spain knocked down Joao Sousa from Portugal, Marco Cecchinato from Italy needed three sets to defeat Hugo Dellien of Bolivia, Juan Manuel Cerundolo of Argentina shave Thiago Seyboth Wild of Brazil. Etcheverry topped Andrej Martin of Slovakia.

Open Sud de France

Andy Murray of Britain lost in straight sets and Jan-Lennard Struff’s No. 8 seed got the better of his countryman Peter Gojowczyk in the second round at Montpellier, France.

Gojowczyk won the all-German battle 6-3, 6-4. Murray fell 7-6 (8), 6-1 to Egor Gerasimov at Belarus.

Benjamin Bonzi from France, Tallon Griekspoor from the Netherlands, Dennis Novak from Austria and Jiri Vesely from the Czech Republic won.

Singapore Tennis Open

Sixth seed Radu Albot needed Moldova on three sets to beat Australian player John-Patrick Smith in Singapore’s second round.

Albot won 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 in 1 1/2 hours.

Altug Celikbilek from Turkey, Yannick Hanfmann from Germany and Yasutaka Uchiyama from Japan also won.
