The first round began mostly in a tactical battle, with McGregor and Fourier more than once getting into a battle of shoulder-to-shoulder combat, close to the Octagon fence. Afterwards, McGregor tried a bit to attack, including one accurate kick towards his American opponent, several precise strikes came from the Irish side – who chose to attack during the second round as well, and the initiative was in his hands. But during the second round, Fourier’s breakthrough came – which struck again and again, until he knocked out McGregor by knockout – and won the battle.
After a full year without entering the UFC’s octagon arena, Conor McGregor is currently making his comeback against one of the best fighters in the lightweight division, Dustin Fourier.
As you may recall, in 2014 McGregor defeated Fourier by knockout during the first round, but a lot of blood has been shed since then. The American won ten fights (compared to six for the Irish), both of whom lost only twice each. Fourier even won the lightweight temporary title, while McGregor was crowned the first double champion in UFC history.
