LONDON (Reuters) – Aston Martin car dealer said a turnaround plan would see it take the first steps towards profit and increase sales this year after a deep loss in 2020 as the company raised new funding , they changed heads and were struck by the pandemic.

Aston went further into the red with a loss of 466-million pounds ($ 660 million) last year, compared to 120 million pounds in 2019, as sales to retailers fell 42% to 3,394 vehicles, too hit by the closure of showrooms and factories to pay. to COVID-19.

In 2021, it expects to “see the first steps towards better profits” and on Thursday held a view of around 6,000 sales to vendors as new management teams turn around the company’s performance.

Popular for being the James Bond car maker of choice, the company has had a difficult time since its launch in 2018 as it did not meet expectations and was burned through money, forcing him to seek new money from Billrence Stroll’s executive Chairman Lawrence Stroll.

“I am delighted with the progress to date despite working in the most challenging of times,” he said.

The company said demand for its first sports utility vehicle, the DBX, which shut down production lines in 2020, was strong as it enters a profitable segment of the market where it hopes to expand his application.
