Assessment in India: Iranian Quds Force tried to harm Israeli embassy

The newspaper published this morning (Monday) that The India Terrorism Investigation Agency compiled a list of suspects in the placement of the explosives near the embassy about a month and a half ago, including their investigations, and concluded that the Iranian Quds Force was behind the attempted attack.

Investigators say the charge itself was laid by a local who supports the regime in Iran.

In the attempted attack in New Delhi, which took place on 029 January this year, there were no casualties. The state media reported that this was a failed attack. New Delhi police said the source of the blast was an explosive device and several vehicles parked in the area were damaged. Large forces of New Delhi Police arrived at the scene.

Local police estimated that it was a “low-intensity improvised charge, apparently intended to cause panic.” The Foreign Ministry said: “Recently there was an explosion near the Israeli embassy in India. There were no casualties in the explosion and no damage to the building. Hello all the emissaries and staff of the embassy. The incident is under investigation by the relevant Israeli authorities.” “We will take all necessary security measures. We will be updated in accordance with developments.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the time: “We have full confidence that the Indian authorities will investigate the incident and ensure the safety of Israelis and Jews who are there. It was agreed that relations will continue in all channels with full cooperation between the countries.”
