Arsenal are reportedly closely monitoring Diego Costa’s position at Atletico Madrid with Mikel Arteta to land the former Chelsea striker next month.
Costa’s contract in the Spanish capital is up from June 2021 but is said to have instructed Atletico’s hierarchy to end six months early, according to reports in Spain.
AS Diario reports that Atletico do not want to sell to a direct competitor and with Arsenal not participating in the Champions League, interest in a move to the Emirates Stadium could suit all parties.
