Apple will not hold an iPad Pro launch event, ‘AirTags’ on March 16th

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman poured cold water on rumors about an Apple-specific hardware event that was supposed to be scheduled for March 16, rumors that began making the rounds late in the week behind unconfirmed tweets.

Earlier this week, “LeaksApplePro” and “FrontTron” Twitter accounts announced that Apple planned to release new iPad Pro models, iPad mini and “AirTags” tracking hardware at a major event on March 16th. South Korean Publication Daily economic news it was subsequently built and run with the unadorned view in a report that has since been cited by several online retailers.

“LeaksApplePro” is not known to get a glimpse of Apple’s business and has previously made erroneous claims regarding new products and launch timelines. “FrontTron,” meanwhile, seems to be targeting Samsung devices and is largely unknown in the Apple world. While not a collector of erroneous predictions like “LeaksApplePro,” “FrontTron” has no history in the field.

On Friday, Gurman, a messenger with a good connection to Apple hardware stores, nailed the nail in the chest and confirmed it on Twitter there will be no event on March 16th. While it does not specify when the company plans to hold their usual spring event, Gurman notes “AirTags” no released on the 16th.

Twitter’s “false reports” appear to have been erroneous estimates based on valid reporting and historical launch dates.

Apple is expected to introduce new iPad hardware in the spring in a lock-step with the annual release cycle. Multiple reports mark publication sometime in March, although that date may have been pushed back due to the development of ling and supply chain delays caused by the pandemic coronavirus infection.
