Apple Watch, HomePod User Report on activation failure during installation

Apple Watch and HomePod smart users are reporting problems with setting up the devices while using iCloud. Many new customers have gone to forums to complain about this on Christmas morning, perhaps after receiving new Apple products as Christmas gifts. Apple’s status page confirms that there has been an ongoing issue with ‘iCloud Account and Sign in’ for the past few hours and that ‘some users are affected’ and may be having a problem with it the service ‘.

Apple’s status page suggests that the ‘iCloud Account and Sign in’ magazine was still ongoing at the time of writing this report. The issue was first reported by MacRumors saying that its forums also saw people posting complaints about configuration failures on the Apple Watch and HomePod.

One user, going by the BeatCrazy username, wrote that his new Apple Watch SE purchase failed to confirm when it was set up. Several users have commented under his post confirming that they had the same problems.

BeatCrazy says the verification process is continually failing, preventing it from installing the new Apple Watch SE GPS + Cellular models he bought for his kids for Christmas. It says it can sign in using Apple IDs and passwords, but the process stops when prompted to enter another device’s passcode.

“I understand it’s Christmas morning and Apple’s action attendees seem to be overweight, but this still looks awkward. I got my two kids (<18 yo) Apple Watch SE + Cellular, with plans to activate it through Family Setup / sharing. They all already have Apple IDs that will be used on iPads on a regular basis. I can start the process of pairing using my iPhone, signing in to their Apple IDs with their passwords, but [it] keep me hung up when Apple asks me to enter another device's postcode, ”the user wrote. “Apple gives me the option of 'resetting encrypted data', which I accept as an offer to delete existing passwords and Apple ID data - not a good IMO option there. ”

HomePod users have also gone to MacRumors forums complaining that the stuck speaker position is ‘configured’. Complaints suggest that the establishment is inactive even after several relocations. “I can’t set up my mini. Hold on to ‘fix’ after the first setting, then after a while reset itself. I have three other HomePods and this has never been the case before. If there is no solution, a mini cannot be used, ”says a user named alecc131.

Because of these configuration issues, some users are unable to use their new Apple purchase until there is a solution. Apple has yet to respond to these issues, but it looks like this is happening due to too much traffic on Apple’s servers as many users may be starting to verification process after they open their Christmas presents for the first time.
