Apple TV + Hit ‘Ted Lasso’ wins critics’ choice award for best comedy series

The acclaimed Apple TV series + “Ted Lasso” today won the Critics Choice award for Best Comedy Series, featuring seven other nominated series.

Jason Sudeikis and Hannah Waddingham won separate Critics of Choice Awards for their achievements in Ted Lasso.

Ted Lasso features Sudeikis as a short-time Kansas college football coach hired to coach the AFC Richmond professional football team in England, despite having no experience coaching ball- coise. The series has received strong reviews for Lasso’s instability, and Sudeikis won a Golden Globe Award for his accomplishments last week. Waddingham plays the role of Rebecca Welton, owner of AFC Richmond.

The annual Critics Choice Awards honor “the best in cinematic and television performance,” as confirmed by the Society of Critics Choice. The group represents more than 400 television, radio, and online critics and entertainment reporters in the U.S. and Canada. It was founded in 2019 by the union of the Broadcast Film Critics Association and the Broadcast Television Journalists Association.

Ted Lasso’s team will take part in a meaningful panel discussion at the PaleyFest television festival, with a video of the debate to be released on April 1 at 7 a.m. Pacific Time. The series has been updated for the second and third seasons, and the second season is expected to appear sometime in the summer of 2021.
