Apple’s 2021 redesign for the iMac will reportedly not include Face ID as previously expected.
Apple has been working on giving the iMac a Face ID, but a new report says the feature is unlikely to be released in 2021.
according to Bloomberg, Apple had planned to introduce an iPhone – like user ID with Face ID on the iMac – but not in the upcoming update.
Now the publication, citing anonymous sources, says the feature is more likely to be included in a second version of the design. Previously it was expected that Face ID would come to the MacBook Pro as well, though Bloomberg there is no further information about that.
Recent reports suggest that the redesigned iMac 2021 will be similar to a version of the XDR Pro Display, with its slim bezels. The new Apple Silicon iMac is also expected to lose its infamous chin, and be released as a flatter device than before.
