Apple collaborates on children’s Calm meditation series, releases 27-minute ‘Stillwater’ special

The Meditation Calm app on Thursday released a collection of guided sessions for kids featuring the star of the original Apple TV + series “Stillwater.”

Apple collaborated on the effort by lending financial support from James Sie, who will speak of the titular character in “Stillwater,” as well as the show’s executive producer Rob Hoegee and psychologist Mallika Chopra. Sie quotes the reflections written by Hoegee, Chopra and Calm Tamara Levitt’s Head of Mind.

The collection, “Meditations Guided Children”, currently includes three reflections.

In “Rainy Day,” Stillwater teaches children to manage frustration by focusing on the sounds of water in his garden. “Stargazing” is a bedtime meditation in which Stillwater guides listeners through a gentle body scan, while “Windchimes” is designed to develop feelings of kindness.

In addition to the Calm collaboration, Apple released a 27-minute video featuring the stars and creators of “Stillwater”. “Stillwater: Mind, Music, and Movement” includes an introduction from Chopra, a “moment mindfulness” by Stillwater (Sie), an interactive music session with Kishi Bashi and writer Toby Chu, and a breathing class and movement led by Apple Fitness + Yoga Trainer Jessica Skye.

“Stillwater” is based on the “Zen Shorts” book series written by Jon J. Muth. The series first aired in December and is available on Apple TV +.
