Anthony Joshua tells Sky News about the latest talks to fight Tyson Fury
Anthony Joshua has the same established mindset as Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez as he prepares to take over Tyson Fury, says his promoter Eddie Hearn.
Negotiation for one of the “biggest fights ever”, the case of the overweight title Joshua and Fury, continues with both sides optimistic about a resolution.
IBF, WBA and WBO champion Joshua approaches the fight in a similar way to Canelo, the pound-for-pound phenom from Mexico, according to Hearn.

“I see similar things, not in the ring, between him and Canelo,” Hearn said Sky Sports.
“Two boys who came from nothing, who picked up their legacies, now have the same hunger when they walked into a gym.
“That’s what makes it a winner.
“Joshua is always trying to evolve.
“When you walk into Canelo’s dressing room after a fight with whom he’s talking [his trainer] Eddy Reynoso on how he can improve. “
After a devastating loss to Andy Ruiz Jr. halfway through 2019, Joshua rejuvenated his pool of sparring partners, head coach Rob McCracken introduced Joby Clayton and Angel Fernandez as additional coaches and then they performed skilfully and disciplined performance to earn a replay.
Joshua is now developing himself for the specific task of completing Fury’s undeveloped album.
“Absolutely,” Hearn agreed. “He would say he is preparing the training for his job.
“He’s training, sleeping, relaxing. I want to bring him in for a break.

“He ‘s so focused. While he would tell you he’s training just to develop as a hero, I know he’s thinking Fury.
“He’s working on the plan to defeat this guy and to be honest.
“I like the work he’s doing, the improvements he’s making, the mindset.
“Mindset is a winner, a hero.
“Fury is a superhero but AJ will work on it.
“Preparation is starting now. Don’t think Fury isn’t doing the same thing. He knows. This is probably the biggest fight ever.”
How close is Joshua vs. Fury?
One of the main obstacles, Oleksandr Usyk’s status as a mandatory WBO opponent on Joshua’s belt, is being solved.
Usyk is expected to face Joe Joyce for the WBO interim title.
Usyk is not expected to come between Joshua and Fury
Sky Sports reported in January that Usyk promoter Alexander Krassyuk had “received the letter from the WBO stating that they are considering granting approval for AJ vs. Fury.”
Deontay Wilder ‘s request for a third WBC title fight with Fury is also being resolved.
“It simply came to our notice then. That is not going to be the case in this fight [Joshua vs Fury], “Hearn has said before Sky Sports.
UK Fury promoter Frank Warren has previously reported Sky Sports about Wilder ‘s controversy: “We do not think that he will win the fight [Joshua vs Fury]. “
Hearn said: “We are finalizing the best details of the contract and hope to announce soon.”
