Just two nights after scoring 34 career-high points, Anthony Edwards continued that performance with another strong effort Tuesday against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Edwards tied a senior with 29 points and four rebounds during a 137-121 loss to the Lakers. He finished by shooting 11-of-22 from the field, including 3-of-7 from a 3-point field, and 4-of-6 from the free throw line in 38 minutes of action .
With the achievement, Edwards has now won a total of 14 games this season with at least 20 points, leading all rookies. His 14 20-point games tie Andrew Wiggins and Christian Laettner for the biggest touches with a Roberie Timberwolves through the first 40 games of a career.
Edwards, over the last eight of his games, has been in utter tears. He has scored at least 19 points in each of those competitions and averages 24.5 points over that range. Including Tuesday night, Edwards has scored at least 20 points in seven of his last eight games.
During his career night on Sunday in a win over the Portland Trail Blazers, Edwards became the youngest player in team history to earn 30 points at 19 years and 221 days. He also became just the fourth rookie in team history to hit at least six 3-pointers in that game.
Unfortunately, the offensive revolution did not bring many benefits to the Timberwolves, who are now 9-31 on the season. However, the group should definitely be pleased with how Edwards is playing so late with very few wins.
