Android Auto is moving towards wallpaper support, a new collection

Last year, we found out that Android Auto was working to let you add some talent to your car’s entertainment system through wallpaper support. Prior to the launch of that feature, Google has added a collection of car-related wallpapers with the latest update to the Android Auto app.

About APK Insight: In this “APK Insight” post, we have broken down the latest version of an application that Google has uploaded to the Play Store. When we disable these files (known as APKn, for Android apps), we will be able to see various lines of code within that ad at possible future features. Please note that Google may never remove these features, and our explanation of their contents may be incomplete. We will try to enable those who are closer to being ready, however, to show you how they look in case they board. With that in mind, read on.

New wallpapers

Back in November, Google showed signs of adding wallpaper customization to Android Auto, starting with a collection of six wallpapers, some of which are very similar to backgrounds used by Chromecast devices. Today, with the upgrade to Android Auto version 6.0, Google has removed most of the previous wallpapers and replaced them with a new collection of backgrounds.

You may notice very quickly that there are some common themes between the images. Very few special vehicles moved, especially with light paths from light. Others feature close-ups of the best car details, such as sewing in the seats, fine metal rotor, or a front grille grid structure.

Considering Google has taken the time to compile this collection of themed photos, it may appear that Android Auto wallpaper support is now closer to launch, but as usual there is no way to be sure.
