Astronomy enthusiasts flooded social media with images of the Great Alliance between Jupiter and Saturn, but one Australian photo has received much praise on social media.
An Indian photographer in Melbourne clicked a stunning image of the rare celestial phenomenon in which the two planets appear so close to each other for the first time in nearly 400 years.
Facebook user Sajal Chakraborty captured not only Saturn and Jupiter but also the four largest moons of Jupiter in the picture. Captured using only a DSLR camera and a telephoto lens, Chakraborty’s image received much praise online.
The image received more than 1.2 million appearances after Twitter user Rebecca Hill shared it on the platform.

Chakraborty told indianexpress.com how he collected 25 images to achieve the brightness seen in the final image.
“It’s ready to create details. I used interleaving for shutters and gathered a number of exposures to get the details, ”he said over chat.
“The 21st day was wet here. So I only had one small window of opportunity where I could catch them at the closest point to them, ”he said, adding that the photo was taken around 9:30 pm.
Chakraborty said he had only shared the images on some photography groups and their online reputation was unexpected.
“I wanted to capture the celestial event as best I could with the equipment. I have a simple tripod, a 10-year Canon 60D and a 10-year Canon 75-300mm lens. So, I have to do everything from the beginning, ”he said.
The image was praised by many, but there were plenty of funny comments and memes in response:
