With that setup, the dartboard system has two main components: one is the ability to predict where a beam lands with a normal throw from a controlled distance, which is done indoors 200 milliseconds; and two is the movement of the board to the expected place in time for landing.
An infrared motion capture system monitors the movement of the ray through the air to predict where it will land. He builds tiny retro screens that line the specially designed staple.
Its manufacturer is a California-based ex-NASA engineer Marc Rober, explained on YouTube, “As humans, we see in 3D because we have two eyes and our brains measure the differences between the two images and then tell us how far and how far. things are close. That’s why when you close one eye, you immediately lose that sense of depth.
“That’s basically what we’re doing here but we have six eyes and each of those eyes is a camera that can take a 4k-resolution image 260 times per second,” he said.
There are cameras that emit infrared light that hits the retro-reflectors, and the camera lens responds to the reflected light. This is how the motion capture system sees the ray floating around in the air, and with the help of software, the dart board adjusts itself to the position of the intended path.
“Our dart position is as it moves through the air, now we use some Mat Lab code to predict where it will land and the trick here is anything which you throw into the air collecting the air force traveling in a parabola, ”Rober said.
From that data and through his experience with the parabola, the dashboard by itself allows up and down movement to run out.
