AMD ZEN3 ThreadRipper with 16 cores in view?

We love our share of cryptography, the one that Yuri Bubliy posted (1USMUS from Ryzen-Clocktuner and DRAM Calculator) was easy to solve. He posted a cryptic tweet revealing some leaked information.

On Twitter, he posted 47454e4553495320313620434f524553, which is inevitably a hexadecimal value, turned which reads GENESIS 16 CORES. And why this news? Well, the normal gen doesn’t have a 16-core part because Ryzen consistently takes note of that.

So that’s a hallmark of the 16-core, Castle Peak’s standard generation is based on 24, 32, and 64 cores. In the generations before that, the 16-core 1950X and 2950X parts have existed. Interestingly enough there of course is a 16-core ZEN3 component, the Ryzen 9 5950X. However, with Threadrippers targeting workstations, we can assume that they would offer more memory channels and PCIe channels. Genesis is the codename for the upcoming Threadrippers, which is based on ZEN3. And knowing AMD, they might expect them in Summer 2021.
