Amazing iPhone jump, new iPad Pro look, amazing MacBook Pro update

Looking back on another week of news and headlines from Cupertino, this week’s Apple Loop introduces the latest iPhone 13 designs, a new keyboard for the MacBook Pro, iOS virtualization in court , Apple Watch problems, a new iPad Pro screen leak, and Apple’s wearable prototype will suddenly appear.

Apple Loop is here to remind you of a few of the many conversations that have taken place around Apple over the past seven days (and you can read my weekly dig of Android news here on Forbes).

Apple wrapped up the iPhone 13

While most iPhone 13 handsets – expected to launch in September 2021 – should stay with the current generation’s consistent format feature, Apple is working on something a little more radical. Will we see a special edition of iPhone 13 folded in the next 12 months? Forbes Gordon Kelly reports:

“… industry enthusiast Jon Prosser has revealed that Apple is currently testing out a new foldable iPhone and has a timeline on its release.

“According to my sources, a clamshell prototype folds an iPhone similar to the style of the Z Flip from Samsung,” Prosser explains. “Shells of this device are being tested at Shenzhen Foxconn factory. I say shells of this tool because it is not the whole unit, mostly they are just trying to ensure hinge stability [at this stage]. ”

Dynamic MacBook Keyboards for all?

With Apple Silicon now installed inside the new MacBooks, the next step is to bring the current tired design and bring new ideas and technologies to market. in laptop. Several patents have been released around the keyboard, but the latest one feels most reasonable as a 2021 feature. I mentioned earlier in the week:

“One way to think about this is to consider the keyboard on your smartphone. When you hit the movement key, the letters across the keyboard move to a high point as a visual indication of the key. Symbols can appear when punctuation mode appears, and of course there is a lot of keyboard interface that has the dynamic automatic options appearing in a strip over the top of the dashboard.

“Now think about that principle, but your next MacBook.”

IOS Virtual Machine in court

Apple is currently in a lawsuit with security company Corellium, in particular against its software that offers a virtual iOS environment that will help researchers investigate vulnerabilities and security issues in the Internet. software. Russell Brandom reports:

“Ruling on motion for summary trial in U.S. District Court for South Florida, U.S. District Judge Rodney Smith has dismissed Apple’s copyright infringement claim over Corellium software, acquiring found that Corellium’s use of Apple’s code involved fair use… In particular, that judge found that additional features within the Corellium device strengthened his case for fair use, in particular the ability to change angles or observation and stopping processes. “

iPhone wins Christmas

Christmas Day is always a big day for smartphone activity. 2020 was not very different, but the economic impact of 2020 may have contributed to a shift in platform choices for the holidays. Apple’s iPhone 11 came out as number one, the iPhone XR in second place, and the iPhone 12 Pro Max in third place. How about Android? LG’s K30 was the only non-Apple device in the top ten. Android devices have received a bigger blow than the competition. Lisa Moshfegh writes:

“Perhaps the success of the models of previous years – especially the iPhone 11 and iPhone XR – shows that American consumers were more aware of prices this holiday season. Particularly absent from this year’s list is the flagship iPhone 12 mini, which brings the iPhone 12’s features, into a smaller device. With a discount of just $ 100 compared to the iPhone 12, however, the small version has yet to capture consumer attention. “

Why is my new Apple watch running slow?

A Christmas Day push of new gifts will always lead to a Christmas Day run to both Apple action servers and software update servers. Each year they are almost certain to deliver at a slower rate than usual, but this year it was a little weirder with server issues reported all over the world. Chance Miller reports:

“Various reports on Twitter indicated that some Apple users were unable to activate new devices, with the majority of complaints apparently targeting the Apple Watch. The issue came particularly when which users everywhere began to unveil Apple’s new products on Christmas morning.

… after 36 hours of cases, Apple says it has solved those problems. The company states simply: “Some customers may have had a problem with this service” and “Some customers have been affected. ”

Let’s pop the color on the iPad Pro

More chat about Apple ‘s switch to mini – LED for the larger products that was scrapped this week, with the latest report from Digitimes highlighting Apple’ s efforts to find more than one major mini – LED supplier to market set up to keep the materials bill down and the strategies high. Offering deeper blacks, more vibrant colors, and better contrasts, the mini-LED screens should make it usable to pop while keeping power consumption low. Eric Slivka reports:

“Previous reports, including from renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, have revealed that the iPad Pro Mini-LED will launch sometime in the first half of 2021, but today’s report from DigiTimes a indicates that the first debate is expected early in that period. . “

And finally …

What came before the Apple Watch? That’s Apple’s secret device that looks like a watch, but is stuck in a box. “Thanks to the unofficial ‘Apple DemoTwitter account, this week we saw a look back in time:

No digital crown, some great push buttons, but a scene you’re already familiar with. Michael Potuck tells the story:

“The software is pre-watchOS 1.0 and Apple Demo confirms that the built-in build works with a mix of images showing off the UI and more. Referring to Lisa’s computer from the 1980s, even Lisa Simpson is used as an app icon on the prototype Apple Watch for the “Lisa Tester. ”
