Apart from the intriguing meeting between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Oded Katash and Panathinaikos, the 29th round of the Euroleague opened with four more games: In the early game, Milan defeated CSKA 76:84, which counts a second consecutive loss. Later, Barcelona sweated, but defeated Real Madrid 76:81 in the Clásico. In the extra games: Alba Berlin defeated Wheelerban and the Red Star defeated Himki.
Real Madrid – Barcelona 81:76
One came from the top of the Euroleague with two straight wins, the other feels eighth place is approaching it after three losses in its last five games – but when it comes to the Clasico, it does not matter what happened before. And that’s exactly how it felt in the game between Barça and Real tonight: a war on every ball, revolutions and a dramatic ending.
The Catalans were the ones who dictated the pace in the first minutes, with Nick Claths winning the chorus and up to a quick 3:10. Real did not say desperate and completed a quick turnaround with a 3: 9 run, but Barça was the one to say the last word in the first quarter and it was also the one that came down from it with an advantage. The second half remained close, with the difference jumping from side to side and the score being particularly low – but great minutes by Nikola Mirotic (including a huge block on a thin in money-time) and a great dunk by Pierre Oriola sealed the game with a Barça victory.
Oriola was also the one to lead the Barcelona scoring with 18 points and 6 rebounds, Mirotic added 13 and 5 rebounds, and Claths contributed 11. On the white side, Walter Tavares finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds, Gabriel Dek added 17 and Alberto Albada scored 11.

CSKA – Milan 84:76
Did you think that the painful defeat suffered by the Russians from Andulo Zero in the previous round was accidental? Well, it looks like you’re wrong. At least that’s how it looked in the first quarter of the battle against the Italians, a quarter that ended in a crushing 30:10. CSKA still managed to recover a bit and bite slowly in the difference, which dropped to 6 points in the last quarter, but did not prevent another loss that gave the Italians second place.
Kevin Panther led the Milan scoring with 32 points, assisted by Avon Shields (14) and Zack Lydie (12). On the other hand, Mike James contributed 21 points and Toko Shangalya added 20 of his own and 10 rebounds and 4 steals – but even the great duo failed to keep the win on Russian soil.

Wheelerban – Alba Berlin 95:89
The French, like Maccabi in recent weeks, have missed an opportunity to stick to a stick that is fighting for eighth place and they are moving away from the playoffs. On the floor, Alba closed a double-digit deficit in the second half and went all the way to victory. Peyton Siva led with 21 points, Simona Pontcio added 19.

The Red Star – Moscow Khimki 81:92
The last two have lost a chance to qualify for the playoffs and it looks like they will stay in last places, but that hasn’t stopped the star from sticking another nail in Himki’s closet. The Russians started well and conceded 8 points in the first quarter, but finished badly and conceded 30 in the final quarter. Jordan Lloyd, who was mentioned as a candidate for Maccabi for next season according to reports in Europe, scored 22 points. 29 by Eric McCollum and 27 by Jordan Mickey on the other hand were not enough.
