Alona Barkat is close to appointing a coach for Hapoel Beer Sheva. The owner held a meeting yesterday (Monday) that was defined as excellent with coach Roni Levy, who landed yesterday from a private vacation in Miami. At the meeting, Barkat tried to understand Levy’s worldview and his professional doctrine, since of the existing candidates she knows him the least. Marco Belbul was the first coach in the Barkat era, while Sharon Mimar worked at the club at the beginning of his professional career as Barak Bachar’s assistant.
No final decision came out of the meeting, but both parties asked to withdraw one more day. Barkat knows that she must put an end to the coach’s saga so that the whole system will concentrate on the goals that remain this season. “Alona’s dilemma is completely understandable, it’s either to give Roni Levy a season and a half and whatever will be, or to appoint Mimar for the short term,” they said in Be’er Sheva.
After enjoying a day off yesterday, tonight the Beer Sheva players will return to practice in preparation for the game against Maccabi Tel Aviv on Sunday, as part of the eighth round of the State Football Cup.
