Alisson did not rule out Brighton’s case with illness

The severity of the illness has not been confirmed, but the Brazilian is joining a full list of Reds players not already available.

Alisson was taken out of tonight’s Liverpool game with Brighton.

It is not yet known exactly what kind of illness Brazil is, or indeed how bad it is, but it represents another headache for manager Jurgen Klopp ahead of what will be a crucial few weeks at at home and abroad for the reigning heroes.

Klopp is already without his four midfield options, with Joel Matip (ankle), Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez (both knees) all expected to lose the rest of the campaign.

Fabinho, who has successfully stepped back from midfield this season, has missed the last two games with a muscle problem, and is not part of the 20-man squad against Brighton.

Sadio Mane also misses the game after recovering from the injury that kept him out of Sunday’s win at West Ham. Both the Senegal star and Fabinho have a chance to qualify for this weekend ‘s big clash with Manchester City, although they have to prove they are fit for Kirkby in the next 48 hours.

Alisson ‘s situation, meanwhile, will be just as worrying. Kevin Kelleher will represent Brighton, a Republic of Ireland under-21 international making just his ninth professional appearance in the process, and only his second in the Premier League.

Adrian will be on the bench for Liverpool, who signed Brazilian teenager Marcelo Pitaluga from Fluminense back in October.

The 18-year-old has been playing with U23 side Barry Lewtas for the past few weeks, but is training with Klopp’s first team.

There was, at least, some encouraging news about the face of the injury with the sight of Diogo Jota back training outside on Wednesday.

The Portugal international has not appeared since injuring his knee in the Champions League match with Midtjylland in December, but is getting closer to a return.

Amas realizes the 23-year-old is still a week or two away from first-team consideration, however.
