Alabama drummer Shakes against child abuse charges

The drummer for Grammy-winning rock band Alabama Shakes has been charged with child abuse charges.

Steven William Johnson, 35, was arrested Wednesday after being charged with charges of intentional torture, abuse and aggravated assault or ill-treatment. a child under the age of 18 intentionally.

Johnson was taken to Lime County Jail. Bond was set at $ 21,500. It was unclear if Johnson had a lawyer who could comment on the costs. Band managers did not immediately respond to an email request for comment.

Arraction date is set for April 7th.

Johnson pleaded guilty in March 2020 to defying a domestic violence protection order in Lime County. He was sentenced to a year in prison, with 24 months’ probation.

The Alabama-based band Athens has been on hiatus since 2018, when lead singer Brittany Howard decided to focus on her own project.
