AIG || AIG workers have been on strike for two days

AIG employees went on strike yesterday (Sunday) at 8 a.m., and continue to strike some of the company’s hotspots even today; They will not provide service and telephone answering to customers in the company’s departments like car sales, mortgage, personal accidents, health and more.

According to the employees, AIG is the only company in the insurance and finance industry in which all work is performed from home and its offices are completely closed continuously, since the outbreak of the corona plague in Israel in March 2020.

The chairman of the AIG Workers’ Committee, Tomer Malul, said that “this is just the opening shot. The company’s employees kneel under the financial and professional burden of working from home continuously for an entire year. “

Last August, a labor dispute was declared at the company, but the workers’ committee chose not to take organizational sanctions and continue the negotiation process in an effort to reach an understanding with management regarding reimbursement of work expenses from home, including electricity, Internet and cellular and fully supplied office equipment.

Also, a special survey conducted among the company’s employees last month shows that an overwhelming majority of employees (over 70 percent) are interested in returning to work from offices combined with work from home, but management vehemently refuses to discuss this possibility, despite the vaccination campaign. Moreover, it was reported, almost two-thirds of employees according to the survey believe that the pattern of working from home alone upsets the balance between maintaining working hours and managing personal and family life.

2.5 NIS per day of reimbursement of expenses

According to the chairman of the committee: “The company’s management is trying to broadcast business as usual, but the strike and disruptions continue in the various departments. We have reached an unbearable and unacceptable situation where the company’s employees kneel under the financial and professional burden of working from home for a year. Working in this way is not a luxury, but a must in light of the hundreds of shekels that the company’s employees spend every month. All we have received so far is a ridiculous sum of 2.5 NIS gross per day.

Malul also claims that “things are not just financial, but also professional and organizational. It is time after almost a year of working from home for all its consequences, including mental health to settle the issue officially for the benefit of all parties. We are sorry for the disruptions and harm to customers, But they, too, need to understand that we are struggling with a disconnected management that does not provide solutions to our adversity, so that we can continue to provide our professional and dedicated service. “

The majority work as usual

AIG responded: “AIG sees its employees as an asset, especially during this challenging period, and continues to support their financial, logistical and emotional needs throughout the period. The company chose on its own initiative to give various grants during the work period from home, and even offered appropriate salary increases for the coming year. “Which is not common at this time. Contrary to what is claimed, most of the company’s employees, including the departments of the committee members themselves, work as usual and provide service to its customers.”
