The Senate voted by a majority of 92 opponents against 7 in favor. After the vote, U.S. Senate Speaker Mitch McConnell said he did not expect more votes to threaten the election results.

As you may recall, an angry mob burst onto the famous hill last night, during a congressional hearing. Supporters of President Trump, who spoke in Washington, took control of the Congress building and rioted on the spot. They were eventually evacuated from the building, but such sights have not been seen in Washington since the English army invaded the American capital in 1812 and burned Capitol Hill.

Washington police said four people died during the riots by Trump supporters in the U.S. capital. One woman died from gunshot wounds while three others, it was reported, died from “medical emergencies.” The police statement did not elaborate further. At least 52 protesters storming the Capitol building were arrested. Authorities found two pipe bombs, one at the Republican Party headquarters and the other at the Democratic Party headquarters.

Following the riots of the protesters in the secret service riots, Vice President Pence was evacuated. A confrontation was also reported between armed security guards and militiamen who accompanied the protesters. Pence tweeted on the social network Twitter and wrote: “The demonstrators who rioted in the Capitol building will be punished with all the severity of the law.”
