After half a year: Linoy Ashram returned to competition

Half a year after winning the title of European Champion, today (Friday) artistic gymnast Linoy Ashram returned to compete in the World Cup round held in Sofia.

The 21-year-old Ashram opened her appearance with a hoop and presented a new exercise with which she will also appear at the Olympic Games in four months in Tokyo. The Israeli finished with a score of 25.8 points. Then in the exercise the ball scored 25.550 points, after failing to catch the ball at the end.

Overall, Ashram scored a weighted score of 51.35 points, and she is currently ranked second overall, with only Bulgaria’s Boriana Calline, a bronze medalist in the ball and a film from the European Championships, ranked ahead of her.

Adi Katz, who flew at the last minute following the injury of Nicole Zelikman, also participates in the same competition. Katz achieved a result of 23.250 points in the hoop, added a score of 20.5 points on the ball – and is ranked ninth.

The competition, in which 70 gymnasts from 33 countries take part, but without the senior Russians Dina and Arena Avrina, will continue tomorrow with the qualifiers in the clubs and in the film, and on Sunday the finals will take place.
