After almost a year off the field, Yaara Yitzhaki returns – and joins Maccabi Ashdod. The 22-year-old actress has not played basketball in the past year, but after intensive rehabilitation she is back to playing.

Ashdod will be Yitzhaki’s fourth team in the Premier League. She is a graduate of the academy at Wingate, previously played in Raanana, Ramla and Ramat Gan when last season she led her team to first place in the league. Since she was injured, Yitzhaki has led the players’ organization as chairman of the organization in struggles for equality in committee discussions in the Knesset and in front of the Ministry of Sports. With the opening of the European Championship qualifiers, Yitzhaki also accepted the captaincy of the Israeli national team.

“I am excited to return to play,” said Yitzhaki. “I can no longer wait to get on the floor again after last week I received the medical clearance to return to full activity. I am happy and proud to join a huge club, like Maccabi Ashdod girls. “Intention and aspiration to be available to the team in order to fulfill and achieve the goals we have left this season and, first and foremost, to return the championship plate and the trophy to the club.”

Uri Ben Simon, the professional manager of Ashdod: “Maccabi Banot Ashdod is proud and welcomes the signing that was delayed for a year. We have no doubt that its hair will be a significant reinforcement for the team and we are very happy about its signing at the club.” Her debut game is expected to close the circle when she will host her previous team, Urbani Ramat Gan, in the next round.
