The 2021 racing season of Israel Startup Nation will finally open tomorrow (Wednesday) after a series of cancellations due to the Corona crisis.
The team, which has recruited a string of stars with the aim of becoming a significant force in the biggest races in the world, will open the season in the city of Nimes in the south of France with the Tour Etoile de Basage, a tough five-stage race featuring most senior teams.
The severe restrictions on the corona, which, as stated, forced race organizers to abolish them, came up with the participation of Israeli champion Omar Goldstein. The new regulations that went into effect yesterday in France in the face of the new corona wave – banned the entry of citizens outside the EU, and thus the group was forced to replace Goldstein with another rider.
Goldstein now hopes he can compete in the Americas column later this month alongside Briton Chris Fromm in his debut in the team uniform. The new corona waves have so far led to the cancellation of half a dozen winding season races including the Argentina column, the Mallorca column, the Valencia column and the Andalusia column.
