AEW Dynamite: Kenny Omega reunites with Young Bucks, Good Brothers

January 7 (UPI) – AEW World Champion Kenny Omega defended his title against Rey Fenix ​​in a major Dynamite event where old friends joined the camp.

Omega and Fenix ​​had a very competitive and high-flying game that pushed both grips to the lowest level. Wednesday’s program of Dynamite was the first night of AEW’s New Year’s Smash event.

Fenix ​​was able to survive from multiple Powerbombs from Omega and reverse his One-Winged Angel finishing move. Fenix ​​Cutter played and tried a Frog Splash that stopped Omega from putting its knees up.

Omega won the bout and remained an AEW World Winner after beating Fenix ​​with Tiger Driver 98 and then the One-Winged Angel to win all three counts.

Omega manager Don Callis then gave Fenix ​​a backstage video that saw Eddie Kingston, The Butcher and The Blade defeat Trixle Deathm teammate Pac Fenix ​​and Penta El Zero M.

Callis said Omega was going to end Fenix’s career until AEW World Champion Jon Moxley hit Jon Ring carrying the ring with a basketball bat wrapped in wire sharp. Moxley went in one good beat until he was horribly beaten by The Good Brothers Impact Tag Team Champions, made up of Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson.

The Good Brothers helped bring down other guards who came in to stop Omega. AEW World Tag Team Tournaments The Young Bucks hit the ring but eventually ended up helping Omega as well.

Omega, back with all his friends, gave the group their Too Sweet hand gesture to each other while Dynamite flew from the air. Omega, The Good Brothers and The Young Bucks were all previously part of the Bullet Club.

Also on Dynamite, Snoop Dogg joined Cody Rhodes to the ring for his game against Matt Sydal. Rhodes, who plays alongside Snoop Dogg on the TBS competition series Go-Big Show, comes to the ring with a remix of his introductory music with lyrics from the rapper.

Rhodes Sydal fought outside the ring and accidentally hit Serpentico who was monitoring the action from the side of the ring with other keepers. Rhodes won the game after playing the Rhodes Cross twice.

Rhodes was attacked from behind by Serpentico and his teammate Luther after the game. Sydal Rhodes helped fight with them and put Serpentico near the high turnbuckle.

Snoop Dogg climbed to the high turnbuckle and jumped into the air to make a weird Splash.

AEW Women’s World Championship Hikaru Shida defended his title against Abaddon, who tried to bite Shida through their game.

Abaddon was able to bite and drag Shida’s thigh under the ring where cameras could not see what was happening. Shida came out of the ring with a bloody neck and was visibly wounded by Abadon who continued to punish her opponent.

Shida was fighting through the pain and was able to win the game and stay as the AEW Women’s World Winner after beating Abadon with Running Knee.

Other times from Dynamite included The Young Bucks and SCU beating The Acclaimed and The Hybrid 2; Moxley votes for revenge on Omega; Wardlow defeats his inner teammate Circle Jake Hager; and Sting save TNT Championship Darby Allin from Team Taz after pressure between Allin and Brian Cage.
