Adam Scott recalls an ‘amazing’ experience playing with Tiger, Phil in the 2008 US Open

SAN DIEGO – Adam Scott joined the PGA Tour in 2002 and has played 336 events in his career, so it was a big surprise that 2019 was his first time playing the Farmers Insurance Championship.

The Australian would usually play late into the fall back home and would often take off in January to repay. That changed in ’19, when he finished alone in second place at Torrey Pines. He returned for his second start in the event this week and after 67-69 rounds is tied for second place.

Maybe he should have played Torrey Pines earlier in his life.

“Maybe, but I hope I have a few more years to take advantage of it, but I would like to take advantage of the next two days with the situation in which I put myself in. , ”Said Scott. “I’ve had some time since I’ve been so good up there going into weekends, so looking forward to what’s to come over the next couple of days.”

Scott has one more experience at Torrey Pines. At the 2008 U.S. Open Championship on the Southern Course, officials paid numbers at the time (Tiger Woods), 2 (Phil Mickelson) and 3 (Scott) for the first two rounds.

“I have a strong, strong memory in my career. Outside of my own achievement in winning, it’s okay there at certain times, ”said Scott, who tied for 26th at the US Open ’08. “The feeling for all the 36 holes I played with Phil and Tiger was amazing, but on Thursday morning the energy was around the first hole so I can’t compare to anything else. It wasn’t even like escaping at the Masters or anything like that. ”
