Academy jumps Spike Lee, Regina King in Oscar nomination, Entertainment News

Directors Spike Lee and Regina King were left on the list of this year’s Academy Awards contestants, though voters made history by naming two women in the leadership category for the first time.

Lee’s film at the Vietnam War ‘Da 5 Bloods,’ which seeks the film’s top honor at the Screen Actors Guild awards, was almost in attendance from this year’s Oscar nominees. He won one Academy Award nomination for best original score.

King’s debut album, ‘One Night in Miami,’ won three nominations, featuring best supporting actor for Leslie Odom Jr. and the best screenshot. But King was not named as a director, and the film opposite of the Black civil rights directors in 1964 did not make the best picture list.

The five nominated directors included Chloé Zhao for “Nomadland,” the story of modern-day female residents of America at the time of the recession, and Emerald Fennell for her debut film, the revenge drama #MeToo “Promising Young Woman. ” In an unexpected option, voters Thomas Vinterberg added to the mix for a Danish film “Another Round.”

Among actors, Lakeith Stanfield was a surprise supporter of an actor nominee for his role as an FBI informant who attacks Black Panther Party leader Fred Hampton in “Judas and the Black Messiah.”

Glenn Close was nominated for supporting the actress for “Hillbilly Elegy,” a story about poverty in the U.S. Midwest, although the film itself was wide-ranging.
Academy voters did not recognize the role played by Zendaya’s Emmy-winning critics in “Malcolm & Marie,” a play about a plot twin.

And two-time Oscar-winning Oscar winner Tom Hanks failed to win support for his portrayal as a Civil War veteran in “News of the World.” The film received four nominations in technical categories. .
