Above Benzema and Lukaku: Zahavi enters a prestigious list

Beginning of an article

Although we did the summary of the second decade of the 2000s a year ago, in sports the counting is sometimes a little different, given the division of the seasons. Today (Thursday) the list of the biggest scorers of the last decade was published, from the beginning of January 2011 to the end of December 2020, and there is one very well-known name in this table – Eran Zehavi.

The Israeli star is in 11th and most respectable place on the list with 264 goals in all this period, including Hapoel Tel Aviv, Palermo, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Guangzhou and PSV Eindhoven. Zahavi is above players such as Karim Benzema (259) and Romulo Lukaku (258), while in this list there are quite a few more well-known pioneers who flourished a little later than him – Harry Kane (20th place), Muhammad Salah (22nd place) and Antoine Griezmann (23rd place).

It is also worth looking at what is happening at the summit. Unsurprisingly, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo fought for first place head to head, and eventually CR7 grabbed the top spot with one goal more than the Flea until 2021 began.

The top ten:
First place: Cristiano Ronaldo – 550 (Real Madrid and Juventus)
Second place: Lionel Messi – 549 (Barcelona)
Third place: Robert Lewandowski – 417 (Dortmund and Bayern Munich)
Fourth place: Zlatan Ibrahimovic – 340 (Milan, PSG, Manchester United and Los Angeles Galaxy)
Fifth place: Luis Suarez – 335 (Liverpool, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid)
Sixth place: Edinson Cavani – 334 (Napoli, PSG and Manchester United)
Seventh place: Neymar – 327 (Santos, Barcelona and PSG)
Eighth place: Sergio Aguero – 302 (Atletico Madrid and Manchester City)
