A suspect has been arrested for robbery, seriously injuring celebrity chef Shalom Kadosh

A suspect was arrested Saturday for the robbery attempt of acclaimed Israeli chef Shalom Kadosh, who was seriously injured during the incident.

The suspect is a man in his 40s from East Jerusalem, police said. He was being investigated and police wanted to extend his arrest after the Easter holidays.

On Sunday, Kadosh, 74, tried to run a burglar at a gas station after the man stole his wallet from his car. The two fell and Kadosh fell, banging his head hard on the ground. He was rushed to Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center and remains in a critical condition.

Kadosh was highlighted by the media on Friday.

The robbery happened hours before Kadosh ‘s daughter, Channel 12, got married.

Security photos from the scene showed the incident.

Kadosh is considered one of the most famous Israeli chefs, cooking for many world leaders.

In January 2020 he prepared the meal for the World Holocaust Forum in Israel, which included 41 heads of state.

Doctors at Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital said they were fighting for his life.
