A slack break on the first Monday of 2021 is causing unrest for remote employees who rely on the platform for messaging and video chat with colleagues. It has been particularly important due to the Covid pandemic.

Shares slack down about 0.7% in late Monday morning trading.

In September 2019, its stock fell 14% after the quarterly earnings report revealed that Slack hit a $ 8.2 million blow to revenue due to customer credits following a service level breach. Credits help companies deal with future bills.

Salesforce announced on Dec. 1 that it is buying Slack for more than $ 27 billion.

The Slack status dashboard said there are issues with Messages and Links but did not say what caused the issues or when chats should return to normal. The departure apparently began around 10 a.m. ET.

In an update on the 11:20 am ET event, Slack said: “We continue to explore customer engagement issues, and have updated the event on our side to be showing a service disruption. All hands are on deck behind us for further investigation. We’ll be back in half an hour to keep you posted. “
