All eyes in Spain are on the Barcelona Cup game, but at the same time two league games were played tonight (Thursday): In focus, Atletico Madrid achieved a difficult 1: 2 against Eibar at the bottom of the “La Liga”. Earlier, Valencia had rescued 1-1 from Osasuna and continued its collapse.
Eibar – Atletico Madrid 1: 2
In first place in the table, with five consecutive league victories, Diego Simeone almost lost important points – but apparently with such an answer everything goes to Atletico. Well, everything except the trophy. Cello and his teammates, who had already recovered from relegation in the Cup with a win over Sevilla, fell behind early following an accurate penalty by Eibar goalkeeper Marco Dmitrovic, who scored the first goal of his career after just 12 minutes. A goal by Luis Suarez (40) just before the break brought Atletico back to business.
The second half was tight throughout, but a dubious whistle for Pendel gave Atletico a chance to turn. Suarez, who also squeezed the penalty, did not get confused, scored his second with a great Pananka and secured a victory. Uruguay have three winning goals in their last four league games. Next week Atletico will face faltering Valencia and try to achieve a seventh straight win and retain first place in the table. Until then, it maintains a seven-point gap over Real Madrid with one game less.

Valencia – Osasuna 1: 1
Valencia underwent a serious facelift in the summer, in the negative sense of the term, and many predicted it would get tangled up at the bottom. The start of the season may have been different, but the reality was thrown to the Bats very quickly and after 19 rounds they are only two points away from the red line after finishing with a disappointing 1: 1 with Osasuna.
Valencia, in fact, can not be too disappointed with the result as it fell behind in the 42nd minute from a goal by Jonathan Calleri. In the 69th minute she was saved thanks to an own goal by Onai Garcia, but in the bottom line she counts only one victory in the last ten games and looks like a serious candidate for relegation.
On the other hand, Ossona had hoped to halt a 13-game winless streak (its last was at Bilbao in late October), but could only come up with complaints for itself. Now, she is two points away from a safe haven and it is not unreasonable at all that she will find herself back in the second division at the end of the season.
