A new Israeli record for Hapoel Bat Yam on a mission

Beginning of an article

In the last competition, definitely before the closure and before the new year, today (Saturday) the Hapoel Bat Yam mission broke one of the oldest Israeli records in the record table, that of the 4×200 freestyle in the 25-meter pool.

Becky Posdner, Daria Golovti, Rumi Habib and Yuval Segal, who jumped as part of the youth league, stopped the clock at 8: 23.48 minutes, an improvement of about 17 seconds to the previous record held by Maccabi Kiryat Ono swimmers since March 1999 and stood at 8: 40.35 minutes.

In that quartet of Maccabi Kiryat Ono, the Olympic swimmer and the one who still holds the Israeli record for 1,500 freestyle in short pools, Adi Bichman, former Israeli champion Dana Eden, and Michal Rinkevich and Meirav Greenfeld swam.

This is an ointment that is rarely competed with in short pools, and so the Hapoel Bat Yam girls took advantage of this to significantly improve the record. Since all four swimmers are 16 and under, this is both a youth record (stood at 8: 45.23 for Maccabi Kiryat Bialik from 2009) and also a record for ages 16 (stood at 8: 51.75 for Hapoel Petah Tikva from 2014).

Hapoel Bat Yam coach Meir Levya said after breaking the record: “This is a record we dreamed of for at least two years, and here we managed to do it, it’s huge. Now the next step is to do it well in a long pool. I’m happy for the girls, for the parents, and for the whole association. ‘

Also as part of the competition, the Bat Yam mission (Posdner, Golovti, Segal and Ofek Adir) also broke the youth record in the 4×100 freestyle with 3: 50.48. Maccabi Kfar HaMaccabiah emissaries (Eyal Freud, Idan Shomsky, Jonathan Yitzhaki and Joey Levy) broke a 16-year-old record for mixed 4×100 with 3: 51.68.
