An SUV driver and his female passenger say they thought they were going to be killed after a group of teenagers surrounded their car and started setting it on fire in Newtown. York.
The horrific incident happened in broad daylight in the heart of Manhattan on Tuesday – evidence that Big Apple officials are failing to protect residents amid high levels of violent crime.
The pair were traveling in the BMW when they met the large group of teenagers riding up Fifth Avenue near 21st Street.
According to witnesses, the teenagers were blocking traffic before one member of the group fell off their bike and began attacking the luxury car.
A shocking video shows several teenagers punching the vehicle’s windows and stomping on its hood.

Bystanders say up to 50 teenagers were on the scene, many of them rejoicing when the windmill blew in.
The young group of youngsters quickly fled on their bikes as pedestrians shouted for them to go home.
Other evidence said the attackers spat on the car and they broke a hand as they tried to open the door and enter.
The BMW was decorated with medical license plates, but that did nothing to deter a brass teenage gang.
The vehicle was then dragged to the side as pedestrians on the street were exposed to the traumatized pair inside the car, with police now visible.

The 36-year-old driver called 911, but the teenagers had already left the area.
It comes as New York authorities struggle to fight the rise in crime.
Crime statistics for the month of November show that the majority of violent crime is on the rise compared to last year.
Rappers and burgers went up in November 2020 compared to the same month in 2019.
November also saw a sharp 112.5 percent increase in Big Apple firing.
At the same time, homicide has been spinning for both November and the year as a whole.
Crime began to spin after a $ 1 billion cut to the NYPD budget agreed last summer following passionate protests to pay the police back.
