Leshon Rishon, The 14th Hebrew Language Conference in Rishon Lezion will be held this year between the dates 9-11.2.21, at the Hall of Culture, and this time in digital!
Even in these challenging days, Rishon Lezion, the city that has engraved its education and the Hebrew language on its banner, continues in the tradition of deciding that the conference is important and necessary for the creative Israeli culture in general and the Hebrew language in particular. Over the years, the conference has become a cultural anchor with the participation of academics, lecturers, intellectuals, scholars, writers, poets, composers, actors and singers who are connected by a love of the Hebrew language.
In February, the conference will mark 14 years of existence, about a year after the outbreak of the Corona, and will mark “Hebrew in closure”: various panels, which will take place over three days, will examine the impact of the period on Hebrew and culture. In memory of the late Mirit Harari, we will examine whether language can be used as a cure through crises, how laughter and satire help deal with the new situation imposed on us, we will examine the nature of the social discourse that characterizes the period, the effect of social distance on education in Corona and more. .

The city of Rishon Lezion continues to work and initiate for the world of culture, audiences, artists and industrial workers and this year also offers artists in the field of the Hebrew language to apply for the Rishon Lezion Mayor Award for creativity in the Hebrew language. The prize, for a total of NIS 36,000, is intended to express appreciation for a prominent artistic or gothic work in the Hebrew language that has left its mark or made the Hebrew language and its treasures accessible to large and diverse audiences. The award will be presented by the Mayor, Mr. Raz Kinstlich, at the conference.
This year the conference is also coming to children! The children’s play “Mila Tova”, a new and fascinating musical theater performance that deals with the Hebrew language and encourages reading, will be broadcast live on the Heichal website.

As part of the Conference of Teachers and Supervisors, the annual meeting of teachers and instructors will take place this year under the sign of distance learning – the reality that teachers had to adapt to and the challenges they face. This year, too, the conference will be collaborating with the director of education. For this purpose, Dr. Rubik Rosenthal, the conference’s academic advisor, constructed lesson plans that deal with the language. This year, the schools in the city will focus on getting to know the songs of the first and second aliyah – especially on days when teenagers are affected by content to which they are exposed on social media, they will be given a glimpse of songs sung to this day with familiar melodies.
The conference will be held in a format adapted to the digital platform and all seats will be broadcast live on the hall’s website. Participation is free and conditional on pre-registration that you open on the site.

Writing as a tool of creation, creative and healing power. The writing is liberating, creates an experience of discovery and experience, exciting and reflective. A closed conference for instructors and teachers in Hebrew with the participation of the Ministry of Education.
