A dramatic poll of seats after Elkin’s departure; The chances of a government without Netanyahu increase

Minister Ze’ev Elkin’s announcement of leaving the Likud and joining Gideon Saar caused a great stir last night and seems to be dramatically affecting the political map and the election campaign. According to a 103fm poll conducted by Panels Politics, Gideon Saar’s party, New Hope, is significantly strengthened at the expense of the Likud party, and the gaps between the two parties stand at only three seats. Also, according to the results of the survey, the chances increase of forming a government without the Likud and Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to the results of the survey, the Likud registers a significant weakening and drops to 25 seats. Gideon Saar’s “New Hope” is strengthened at the expense of the Likud and wins 22 seats. The right of Naftali Bennett, who last night announced an official candidacy for prime minister, wins 15 seats. Yesh Atid-Telem wins 15 seats as well. The joint list remained stable with 11 seats.

The survey also shows that Shas and Aryeh Deri win 8 seats, Torah Judaism 7 seats. Yisrael Beiteinu and Avigdor Lieberman 7 seats and Meretz 0 6 seats. only.

The distribution of seats significantly affects the explosion of blocs, and it seems that the “just not Bibi” camp is gaining significant strength on the way to the possibility of forming a government without Benjamin Netanyahu. The Netanyahu bloc (Likud, Shas and Torah Judaism) reaches 40 seats. Naftali Bennett, who won, as mentioned, 15 seats.

The parties that did not cross the blocking percentage: Jewish power led by Itamar Ben Gvir with 1.7%, Labor led by Amir Peretz with 0.7%, the Jewish House led by Rabbi Rafi Peretz with 0.2%, Gesher led by Orly Levy Abacis with 0.2%.

In the survey, conducted by Menachem Lazar, 523 members participated in Panel4All’s respondents’ panel for conducting research on the Internet. The survey was conducted on a representative sample of the adult population in the State of Israel, Jews and Arabs alike – aged 18 and over. Held on December 23, 2020.
