Police on Wednesday arrested a 12-year-old boy on suspicion of sexually assaulting several teenage women and girls on the streets of Tel Aviv.
In the past few weeks, police officers from Jaffa Central Police station have been conducting an undercover investigation after several women launched a complaint, accusing the teenager of committing sexual acts there in several locations throughout Tel Aviv.
Complaints include allegations of attempted rape.
On Wednesday, when they received yet another report of an alleged sexual assault involving the boy, investigators were able to find the identity of the suspect, who turned out to be as a 12-year-old boy.
Since his arrest, police have been questioning the teenager and the juvenile court extended his remand one day.
This is not the first case related to a alleged sexual assault committed by a minor in Israel.
In August last year, the country was ravaged by a gang rape of a 16-year-old girl at a hotel in the resort town of Eilat. The alleged attackers included two 17-year-old couples from southern Israel and six other minors.
