Chadwick Boseman will play a trumpeter named Levee in Netflix ‘s latest flick, Ma Bottine, Black Bottom, which hit the streaming platform on Dec. 18.
And co-star Viola Davis took to Instagram on Tuesday to share photos of the late actress expertly playing guitar on a set of the 2019 drama film.

In the behind-the-scenes video, Chadwick explodes at acoustic guitar strings, while browning out one of the 1920s inspired by his character.
He delivered the show without delay from the comfort of a folding chair while a team and another team gathered around him at a short break from filming.
The video worthy of Viola de Boseman comes just days after another of Ma Rainey actor’s co-stars, Colman Domingo, revealed that he actually learned to play the trumpet for his part in the film.

The Black Panther star inspired his costars to improve their playing skills for the film, said Domingo, who plays Cutler in the film.
‘I think everyone was like,’ Oh, that’s what you’re doing, Chad? Okay, now I’m learning too, ” Domingo said in a promotional clip. ‘I love that [he’s] like, ‘Yeah, I challenge you. We are going to challenge each other. ”
Glynn Turman, who paints a picture of Toledo, recalled hearing Chadwick, who died last summer at 43 after a four – year colon cancer battle, working during production in Pittsburgh in August 2019.

‘We all lived in the same hotel,’ Turman said. ‘It started like, as you know, music school. You come off the elevator and you hear Chadwick, you know, working on it.
‘You made me say,’ Hey, I don’t want to work right now, but I’d better start exercising. ‘ ‘
Viola Davis appears as the blues icon of Ma Rainey in the musical, which is based on the August Wilson play. The film is produced by Denzel Washington, who co-starred with Davis in her Oscar-winning version of Wilson’s Fences 2016 adaptation.

Boseman, best known for his role as King of T’Challa in Black Panther, has also appeared in films such as 42, Marshall, Get on Up and Draft Day.
The actor was diagnosed with stage three cancer in 2016, and underwent ‘countless surgeries and chemotherapy’ in his battle with the disease, his family said, adding that he died in his home, with his wife and family by his side, was ‘the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in the Black Panther.’
Ma Rainey’s Black Raom is now streaming on Netflix.
