Last month, there was a lot of fur when WhatsApp’s new privacy policy was released. The private messaging app, which launched its payment feature was also found in a controversy that apparently didn’t come from anywhere. While most of us have continued with our normal use of the app, there are still a few who feel that the new privacy policy is somewhat controversial. For individuals here is a simplification of what WhatsApp’s new privacy policy is all about, and how secure you are, your data and contacts.
1. Privacy of movement: The first new policy states how consumer data is impacted when interacting with a business on the platform, and provides more details on integration with Facebook, WhatsApp’s leading company. However, Facebook will not have access to user details about digital transactions through WhatsApp
2. Group privacy: WhatsApp groups still remain private; basically any message or data posted on the organization will remain private and will not be shared with Facebook for advertising purposes. In addition to this, chats on the app are circulated from head to toe meaning they cannot be viewed or read by WhatsApp.
3. Missing messages: Adding another layer of security, WhatsApp has the ability to launch obsolete messages where a user can select a time-mail that the deleted message will be deleted from. own app.
4. Privacy of communication: Despite seeking access to your contacts, WhatsApp will not share contact information with anyone else. That contact data is used to enable faster messaging. Additionally, the app only receives the number for the messaging service.
5. User log: Unlike traditional mobile carriers and operators, WhatsApp does not store records or logs of who everyone is sending messages to. In fact, the private messaging app states that storing such records would be a major privacy and security risk.
6. Privacy of space: While WhatsApp allows you to share your location, the app itself does not track or store such data. When you share your location data with someone, the data is again protected by end-to-end encryption.
7. Message & call privacy: WhatsApp cannot see your private messages and cannot hear your calls. Facebook or WhatsApp do not have access to any data, messages or calls you share or thanks to end-to-end encryption that ensures that data is only available to anyone who he sent and the receipt.
8. Personal Data: To enable a higher level of visibility, WhatsApp allows users to download their data. Inside this, a user can see what information WhatsApp has on your account directly from within the app.
