8 Games to play on Zoom with Family and Friends over the holidays

Our gift to you this holiday season: a guide to playing the best games on Zoom.

Of course, Zoom is not just for meaningful office meetings. The online chat service has kept in touch with friends and family members we had to keep a safe distance from this year because, well, you know. Unfortunately, the holiday season only makes things so difficult that many more of us tend to forget our travel plans and spend it without those closest to us.

But we are here to hopefully reduce some of the stress by offering several games to play on Zoom with lovers from the comforts of everyone’s home. You can even have your eggnog when you participate!

Check out the best games to play on Zoom, below.

Zoom Bingo

Ask someone on the e-mail chain to send out Bingo cards with which everyone can play, either custom-made or using a site like myfreebingocards.com. Nominate one person to be a connoisseur and enjoy a fun night of highs and lows with a game that is just as exciting and full of weight at the same time.

Heads up!

All participants must download the app or have the physical card game at home (see below). You and everyone who plays take turns choosing from a variety of categories such as romantic comedies and food types. Then one of you holds the phone above your head while the others give notifications until you guess the correct answer.

Jackbox box games

Designed for a mind group, Jackbox Games dives deep into the world of reckless trivia that tests your brain in ways like never before. They have challenged you in challenges from filling in the gaps to creating deceptive words and meanings as well as fighting monsters in a physics-based game that includes slingshots , power-ups, and more.

All bad cards

In every bad card – which feels very similar to Cards Against Humanity – each player gets 10 answer cards with one quick card and a card queen in each round. It is up to each person to choose an answer that they think the queen will get the funniest card to win the round. Rinse and repeat until the winner gets the ultimate victory.

Revolution

In this simple, straightforward game, two teams make top-10 lists for specific topics, eg, “the top 10 fruit varieties.” The more answers you get right within that list, the more points your team gets. But you have to think fast – and have someone play as a neutral guest in the middle. If someone in your party has the game at home, you can use their cards; if not, take turns coming up with divisions.

Go fish

Chess as a child? Can’t find enough games like Go Fish and chess that bring out some nostalgia? Websites like playcards.io allow you to enjoy these in a virtual Zoom setting where you can invite as many people as possible.

Dictionary

A classic dating back four decades, Pictionary is one of those games that works perfectly in the world we live in today. What’s even better is that Zoom has a whiteboard feature where you can use your mouse to draw similar to what you would in a board game version.

Charades

Kind of self-explanatory here, people. Just make sure you have good lighting so that the people on your Zoom call are not confused about who or what you are trying to represent.
