Israel, according to the prime minister, is currently in a “tremendous race between the spread of the disease and the spread of vaccines.” Netanyahu added that the closure “should give positive results” in the coming days, and asked Israelis to abide by the rules. “It will only happen if we all cooperate,” he said.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, the positive rate among the ultra-Orthodox was 20.6% yesterday, compared to 7.6% nationwide. On a weekly average, the positive rate in the ultra-Orthodox localities is 18.4%, compared with 7.1% in the national average.

Despite the high morbidity in the ultra-Orthodox sector, the rate of vaccination in most ultra-Orthodox localities is considerably lower than the average among those aged 60 and over. As of yesterday, we vaccinated 45% of those aged 60 and over, 39% in Beitar Illit, 47% in Bnei Brak, 58% in Modi’in Illit and 64% in Rechasim.

Because the ultra-Orthodox population is considerably younger than the national average, the general rate of vaccinators is very low – in Elad and Beitar Illit it is 4%, in Modi’in Illit 3% and in Bnei Brak the general rate of vaccinators is 7%.

At the same time, data were published about the localities where the rate of vaccinators is the highest and lowest in the country. In Shoham, we vaccinated 99% of those aged 60 and over, in Tel Mond 88%, in Kiryat Shmona 83%, in Ganei Tikva 82% and so in Modi’in-Maccabim Reut. On the other hand, in Lod we vaccinated only 47% of those aged 60 and over, in Kiryat Malachi also 47%, in Or Akiva 49%, in Kiryat Gat also 49% and in Netivot we vaccinated 50% of those aged 60 and over who live in the locality.

A segmentation of data from returnees from abroad who were later discovered to be corona patients conducted by the Ministry of Health revealed that 32% of corona patients who arrived from abroad in the past two weeks – returned from Dubai in the UAE.

At the top of the list are other countries that were previously defined as “red”: Turkey and Ukraine. These days all countries are defined as red, and returnees are required to enter home isolation upon their return to the country, except for returnees from four countries in Africa – whose return requires isolation in a motel.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, in the last two weeks, 175 verified corona patients were found on flights to Israel. The top of the list is occupied by the United Arab Emirates and the hottest destination in the last two months is Dubai, from which 54 corona patients have been verified – which is 32% of all returnees.

The Ministry of Health estimates that the virus infections among Israelis who returned to Israel from there took place in Dubai, partly because as part of the requirements for entering Dubai, the landers are required to undergo two tests – one in the country of origin and one after landing in Dubai. According to estimates by the Ministry of Health, the Israelis infected in Dubai did not follow the guidelines of wearing a mask and maintaining social distance.
