5 major changes shaping the way Fortnite is today

Fortnite came out in 2017, but it wasn’t until 2018 that it became a global phenomenon.

Originally released as Save the World, Battle Royale first came a month after the game. Fortnite has undergone many major changes over the years, each transforming the game for better or worse into what it is today.


5 major changes that have shaped today’s Fortnite

# 1 – Fortnite x Avengers: Infinity War

May 8, 2018, is an important date in the history of Fortnite. It marks the first major collaboration between Fortnite and another major licensed building. The Avengers: Infinity War connection was a huge boost for Fortnite, opening the floods for many allowed partnerships over the years.

Since Infinity War, there have been collaborations with DC Comics, Disney, 20th Century Studios, Hasbro, Microsoft, Sony, and more. The Collabs have grown so large that they have connected into the main lines of the Fortnite plot. These plot lines have helped shape the face of the very island on which players fight.


# 2 – Creative Mode

Creative Mode launched on December 13, 2018, and opened Fortnite up to a world of creative gamers who enjoyed the build side of the game. Creative has evolved over the years to include important events, collaborations and even competitions. Major Fortnite draws such as Box Battles, and Deathruns have also come from Creative.


# 3 – Map changes

One thing that older gamers who grew up in the time of Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and other game modes that some hunters were familiar with is getting used to it was that Fortnite was always happening on the same map.

On January 18, 2018, the island saw its first major change with ten new POIs, including the Tilted Towers, Shifty Sands, and Snobby Shores.

This update added a real atmosphere to the island and paved the way for future updates that would change the face of the map and keep things interesting.


# 4 – The End

Chapter 1 took place on March 15, 2021, with an event breaking the world. At last came the literal end of the original island, which had already seen some changes over ten seasons. He witnessed the birth of Apollo Island, where players play today.


# 5 – Marshmello Concert

On February 2, 2019, Fortnite hosted a live concert by Marshmello. Using motion capture, Marshmello made a set while players watched from Fortnite Pleasant Park.

This show was much more than a pre-recorded show available for a limited time. This event was once in a lifetime where a musician was playing live in a virtual world.
