Tonight (Sunday), Maccabi Ben Banot Ashdod recorded a 68:69 victory over the champion, Maccabi Urbani Ramat Gan, in the main game of the 14th round of the Athena Wiener League for women in basketball. Coach Gilad Katz’s team recorded a seventh consecutive league victory and enjoyed excellent ability from Daniel Adams with 30 points and 15 rebounds, in a game in which about 30 people who presented vaccinated certificates were allowed to enter.

Ramat Gan started well and led 6:14 with baskets by Tal Lev and Eden Rotberg and good ability by Natisha Heidemann. Daniel Adams shrank to 16:10 and her teammate, Kadija Kiev, scored twice from the penalty spot and closed the first quarter 18-18 behind.

Also in the second quarter, the opening was for the guest from Ramat Gan, who went up to 18:24, but Daniel Adams, in a great first half, shrank to 31:30. Kayla Hillsman raised Ramat Gan to 33:40 but Adams reduced and sent the teams to the halftime break with a lag of 43:40 and with 20 private points and 6 rebounds.

In the third quarter, Ashdod managed to stop Ramat Gan by only 11 points. A three by Alexis Peterson raised Ashdod to 46:48. Hillsman and Heidemann returned the advantage to Ramat Gan to 48:50, but from here Adams, Jordan Danan and Kiev raised Ashdod to 52:57 and 54:58.

In the last 10 minutes of the game, Natasha Heidman equalized to 60:60 and Hillsman returned the advantage to Ramat Gan to 60:62, with a time of 6:11 minutes to go. Hence a three by Adams returned the advantage to the hosts to 62:63 and Peterson continued to 62:65. Two minutes before the end, Alex Harden raised Ramat Gan to 66:68. Kiev equalized at 68:68 a minute and a half to go and the teams returned to the floor after a timeout for the last 48 seconds. 17 seconds to the end, Adams squeezed an offense and scored once from the penalty spot to 68:69. Hillsman managed to miss the last shot and gave the signal for Ashdod’s victory celebrations.
