30% hospitalized in England with a virus were admitted within five months: Study, World News

According to a study, about 30 per cent of those hospitalized with coronavirus in England were returned for treatment within five months of discharge.

The study found that “COVID-19 hospitalization was associated with an increased risk of recovery and death after discharge”.

The research concluded that there was an overall risk of post-transmission adverse events leading to over-70s.

The study said the long-term burden of COVID-related morbidity on hospitals and wider health care systems is likely to be due to an increased number of infectious cases.

“Individuals discharged from hospital after COVID-19 are hungry against high rates of mortality, readmission and multi-organ disorder,” the study found.

“Out of 47,780 people hospitalized with COVID-19 over the study period, 29.4 percent recovered and 12.3 percent died after discharge,” the researchers concluded.

There are over 3.4 million cases of coronavirus in the UK which has become the most severe country due to the virus. The number of deaths due to the virus in the UK has risen to over 90,000.

Large parts of England have been locked up virtually even as the vaccination campaign has expanded. Britain has extended its coronavirus vaccination campaign to people over 70.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said an estimated four million people nationwide had been vaccinated.

Britain has set its own target of vaccinating 15 million people by mid-February, and the total number of adults by this autumn.
